The 2022 World Pork Expo is packed with three days of excitement for pork producers around the world. From business seminars and Pork Academy to lunch at the Big Grill, there are so many things to check out during your visit to the Iowa State Fairgrounds on June 8-10.

Farm Journal’s PORK went straight to the source to find out what other pork producers look forward to seeing at this industry event.

“World Pork Expo is the time that we as producers can problem-solve and discover new opportunities and innovations in a one-stop shop. Besides seeing and interacting with pig farmers and vendors from all over the world, I’d be slacking if I didn’t say the BBQ is an event in itself.” -Lukas Fricke, Union Farms, Ulysses, Nebraska

“My World Pork Expo advice can be summed up in four words: people, pork, presentations and products. People are the most important reason I go. This is the only time I see some of my colleagues in a given year. It is great to catch up with old friends and it’s a great place to meet new people, too. I might not have to mention this, but if you like pork, this is the place to be. The Big Grill and hospitality tents all have great pork. Many companies host presentations and seminars. National Pork Board offers many educational seminars, and the National Pork Producers Council hosts an SIP luncheon with speakers discussing important issues. From a product standpoint, if you want information on buildings, equipment, genetics, nutrition, pharmaceuticals, risk management, sustainable practices and more, it’s all there in one place. My advice for newbies is to take your time and stop to talk to people and ask questions. Take in seminars and learn. Make sure you have some pork. Plan to stay at least one night and book your room early to make sure you can stay close by.” -Gary Asay, Asay Farms, Osco, Illinois

“My favorite thing to do at the World Pork Expo is talk to people from other parts of the country and hear about how hog and corn production is going in their areas. I find it’s the unstructured interactions with people from all over that yield the most for me, and oftentimes, I pick up some interesting insights regarding their experiences with products, suppliers, and ideas.” -Heidi Vittetoe, JWV Pork, Washington, Iowa
