The pork industry is increasingly influenced by markets and events beyond our borders, says Christine McCracken, executive director and senior animal protein analyst at Rabobank. McCracken will discuss the global pork outlook at United Pork Americas (UPA) on Sept. 7-9, 2022, in Orlando, Fla.

“Success in our industry will continue to require close monitoring of the factors that will shape global supplies of competing proteins and potential opportunities for growth into new markets,” McCracken says.

Drawing on the experience of Rabobank’s global analyst team, McCracken plans to provide a snapshot of where the global protein market stands today, the potential challenges to growth and what market opportunities are available in the years ahead during her presentation.

Challenge Your Thinking

“Global events like UPA not only provide an opportunity to learn from the subject-matter experts on topics I might not have the time or resources to follow, but attending meetings like this also gives me a great chance to connect with other industry leaders that can challenge my thinking or serve as a resource for the long term,” McCracken says.

Although there’s no question McCracken is a draw for pork industry enthusiasts to attend an event, she says she prioritizes attending opportunities like UPA to learn more about factors that could influence Rabobank’s pork outlook and widen her thinking.

“With this great list of presenters and the global reach of the event, I am looking forward to hearing more about industry expectations for the long term,” she says. “I’m especially interested in learning more about what factors could change our outlook and what obstacles and opportunities the industry expects to impact industry growth.”
