A transformed 2024 ISU McKean Swine Disease Conference will take place on Wednesday, July 24 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center prior to Iowa Swine Day, which will be held on July 25. Although the events are separate, event organizers say this provides the opportunity to feature two extraordinary conferences in Ames.
Early Bird Registration has been extended at $210 on or before July 12. After that date, late registration will be $260.00. Register here.
The conference will include four plenary talks in the morning covering topics such as the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) resistant pig, the state of the markets and how the U.S. swine industry competes globally, as well as a panel on Prop 12 compliant systems and the keys to doing it successfully.
Two concurrent tracks in the afternoon will focus on key learnings in wean-to-market biosecurity, outbreak investigations, new diagnostic techniques, new vaccine technologies, advances in veterinary telemedicine, and water line biology. Several practitioner-led cases relating to PRRS recombination events, killed vaccines for various diseases (PRRS and Rota), E.coli, influenza surveillance techniques, in addition to research completed with H5N1 influenza strains, the release said.
“This year we are bringing back the Pig Power Networking Event for interested swine students and swine practitioners,” organizers say.
This will be held on July 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the new Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. In addition, there will be a PRRS Management Pre-Conference Workshop held from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30pm, with a social to follow.
