After consolidating three lawsuits earlier this month accusing beef packers of conspiring to depress cattle prices since January 2015, a Minnesota court ruled the case can move forward without one of the originally listed defendants.
The latest amended filing – in which the plaintiffs seek unspecified damages in addition to court costs and legal fees – no longer includes Agri Stats Inc., which provides consolidated data to such clients as protein producers. (The Fort Wayne, Ind.-based company is still being sued as part of a class action suit accusing more than a dozen poultry companies of colluding to inflate chicken prices between 2018 and 2016.)
The first lawsuit was filed by R-CALF USA against Tyson Foods Inc., Cargill Inc., JBS S.A., National Beef Packing Co. and AgriStats. The latest amended filing no longer includes Agri Stats Inc., which provides consolidated data to clients such as packers and other protein producers.
Agri Stats, Fort Wayne, IN, is still being sued as part of a class action suit against poultry processors accusing them of colluding to inflate chicken prices.
The consolidated lawsuit will be heard in a jury trial conducted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Hildy Bowbeer, according to the 124-page federal court filing.
