NFL Lineman Turned Vegan...and Animal Rights Activist

A 300-lb. NFL lineman thinks his diet change has helped him prolong his career. He’s also turned into an animal rights activist.

Linemen in football are often affectionately referred to as the hog mollies. But if you’re a 300-lb. vegan defensive tackle who plays in the NFL you might find that name truly offensive.

The Chicago Bears’ David Carter changed his diet to all-vegan after watching a documentary claiming tendonitis was caused by dairy products.

During Carter’s first month of being a vegan he lost 40-lb. To maintain his 300-lb. frame he now eats 10,000 calories at five meals per day with four smoothies.

It also appears when looking through Carter’s Instagram profile he’s truly bitten into the vegan and animal rights rhetoric.

There’s a picture of a puppy and calf sharing the same face:

His lack of understanding of the dairy industry:

Everything you know about cow’s #milk and dairy is probably part of a #dairy industry #MYTH. Did you know...Most cow’s milk has measurable quantities of #herbicides, #pesticides, #dioxins(up to 200x the safe levels), up to 52 powerful #antibiotics, #blood, #pus, #feces, #bacteria and #viruses. #Monsanto Chemical Co. maker of fine poisons such as DDT, agent orange, and Roundup and more spent around half a a billion dollars inventing a shot to inject into cows to force a #cow to produce more milk. Milk is Mother Nature’s “perfect food”...for a CALF...until its weaned. #GoVegan #ThinkFreely #DoTheResearch #KnowledgeIsPower A photo posted by David Carter (@the300poundvegan) on Jun 20, 2015 at 10:32am PDT

Dogs being raised for meat in China:

#Regrann from @humanesociety - Right now, thousands of #dogs are being transported under cruel conditions to the #Yulin #dogmeat ‘festival.’ Sadly, many of these #animals are stolen #pets -- many still wearing their collars. You can help fight this cruelty, ask Party Secretary Peng Qinghua to #stopyulin: bit.ly/endyulin (active link in bio) #stopyulin2015. #Donate to help #HumaneSocietyInternational: bit.ly/helpstopyulin Please, sign the #petition and #repost... His hope to save the world by getting people to go vegan for 7 days:

For someone who plays on a team that’s mascot is an omnivore (Chicago Bears) he sure is high and mighty that humans shouldn’t be:

I love this picture. People claim that it’s natural for humans to eat meat when we are not even designed to eat meat. Meat eaters digestive enzymes in there saliva, short intestine that is only three times there body length and don’t have colons so they digest the meat within hours. Humans have a long intestine 10 to 12 times the length of our body and a colon so it takes days sometimes even weeks or months to process meat. That’s why so many people die of colon cancer, because meat is just sitting inside of your colon rotting. #vegansofig #meateaters? #300poundvegan #vegan #veganoutreach #donteatthatshit A photo posted by David Carter (@the300poundvegan) on Jun 11, 2014 at 11:04am PDT

And Carter makes friends with cattle because he’s a vegan:

Stopped on the way home and shared our veggies from the farmers market with these little guys. They normally run away from people (I can understand why) but once I knocked off some of my height and assured them I was vegan they came right to me. #FriendsNotFood #RespectAllLife #cows #GoVegan A photo posted by David Carter (@the300poundvegan) on Mar 18, 2015 at 1:37pm PDT

After looking at Carter’s social media you wonder if he knows he makes a living playing a sport with a leather ball. That might deflate his vegan ego.
