Missouri Pork Association Seeks 2023 Youth Pork Institute Applicants
Join the 2023 University of Missouri Youth Pork Institute and explore the swine industry, learn about new technologies and become a future leader in the pork industry. High school students can apply for the program, which will be held on June 12-14 at the MU campus, which includes numerous planned activities and tours of MU’s Swine Farm, Feed Mill, vet college diagnostics lab and a dinner at the Missouri Pork Association headquarters.
In completing a written exam at the conclusion of the event, the top two highest-scoring individuals will also receive a $1,000 college scholarship to the University of Missouri. Smithfield Foods’ Antiquea Allen Honored with 2023 Women MAKE Awards
Antiquea Allen, assistant plant manager at Smithfield Foods’ pork-processing facility in Clinton, N.C., has been recognized for her leadership and accomplishments with the Manufacturing Institute’s 2023 Women MAKE Awards. The institute is the workforce development and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers.
The award is part of the institute’s Women MAKE America Initiative, which aims to empower and inspire women in the manufacturing industry and close the gender gap, the release says. Allen has made significant contributions to Smithfield’s operational efficiency, and her award is well-deserved, according to Doug Sutton, Smithfield’s chief manufacturing officer. In addition to her work, Allen has mentored other women in the company and participated in community service events.
BioZyme, Inc. Grows with Three New Marketing Team Members
BioZyme, Inc. has added three new members to its marketing team: Katy Holdener of Fort Worth, Texas; Stacy Pearce of Chattanooga, Okla.; and Tori Seward of Brandon, Miss. Holdener and Pearce will serve as graphic designers, while Seward will be the Regional Marketing Manager.
The company is looking forward to enhancing its creative outlook and regional marketing efforts through their unique talents and perspectives, says the release. Holdener and Pearce will design assets for the BioZyme family of brands, in addition to corporate pieces. Seward will assist the Area Sales Managers in developing and executing marketing plans at the regional level.
Alltech Announces Scot Harold and Brian Gier in New Leadership Roles
Alltech’s feed division has announced new leadership roles to position the business for future growth, says a recent release. Scot Harold has been promoted as the executive vice president of Feed & Premix, and Brian Gier has joined as the vice president of sales for Hubbard Feeds. Harold will work with the leadership team to develop and implement the strategy for growth of the feed business, while Gier’s wealth of experience in the feed industry will contribute to his responsibilities in overseeing the company’s commercial livestock strategy, as well as the lifestyle portfolio.
These changes will enable Alltech to continue to develop species alignment and leverage the strengths of their team, says Mike Castle, chief operating officer at Alltech.
