Actor Eric Stonestreet Knows His Pig Facts
It’s so rare for actors to be proponents for agriculture, we had to share Wednesday night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Eric Stonestreet, one of the stars of Modern Family, was put to pig test when Colbert found out Stonestreet was raised on a farm.
The Kansas City-native talked about growing up on a farm where they raised hogs and cattle. Stonestreet says he was a former 4-H member: “Yes I was in 4-H—was president of my club. Brauer Beavers!” Stonestreet says. To skip to the pig facts in the video below, fast forward to 6:20.
When Colbert asked what the average gestation period was, with no hesitation, Stonestreet replied: “three months, three weeks, three day.”
How long should it take for a pig to gain 60 lb.? “Well, 60 days cause they should gain a pound per day,” Stonestreet quipped. “My pig knowledge is like your [Colbert] …Lord of the Rings knowledge.”
Thanks Stonestreet for sharing your #realpigfarming knowledge!
