AASV Announces Student Poster Competition Awardees

Fifteen veterinary students competed for awards in the Veterinary Student Poster Competition sponsored by United Animal Health at the American Association of Swine Veterinarians annual meeting.

The American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) provided an opportunity for 15 out of a field of 37 veterinary students who submitted abstracts for consideration to compete for awards in the Veterinary Student Poster Competition at the 2022 AASV Annual Meeting. United Animal Health sponsored the competition, offering awards totaling $4000.

Top winners included:

$500 scholarship: Courtney Wangler, University of Illinois – Top student poster entitled “Differentiation of H3N2 and H1N2 IAV-S antigenic sites by RT-qPCR ”

$400 scholarships: (l to r) Joel Spencer, United Animal Health, with Lindsay Miller, University of Minnesota. Not pictured is Evan Schwarz, University of Illinois.

$300 scholarships: (l to r) Joel Spencer, United Animal Health, with Sydney Simmons, North Carolina State University; Megan Kellen, Iowa State University and McKenna Brinning, Iowa State University.

$200 scholarships: (l to r) Joel Spencer, United Animal Health, with Katie Parker, Iowa State University; Isaac Goldner, University of Illinois; Kathryn Lenker, University of Pennsylvania; Austin Janssen, Iowa State University; Alexis Berte, Iowa State University; Justin Moeller, The Ohio State University; Rachel Kanefsky, Tufts University. Not pictured is Kaylee Robinson, University of Missouri and Adam Tatnall, University of Illinois.

In addition to the poster competition awards, each student poster competition participant received a $250 stipend from Zoetis.
