Louisville’s JBS Swift pork processing plant has suspended pig shipments from a Kentucky farm after Mercy for Animals released a video Monday, that allegedly shows pigs being mistreated.

The text accompanying the video negatively narrated production practices such as clipping teeth on piglets and castration. It also showed a sow being held in individual gestation crates, a controversial but common practice.

JBS Swift spokeswoman Misty Barnes told the Courier Journal, “JBS USA does not tolerate the abuse of animals under any circumstances."

"Based on our initial review of the video, we have suspended shipments from that supplier site pending a full investigation," she said.

Tennessee-based Tosh Farms said several actions shown in the video violate its policy, and it will re-train its staff immediately, according to the Associated Press. A veterinarian found no problems at the site Tuesday, AP reported.

Mercy for Animals has filed a complaint against the farm with the Simpson County District Attorney alleging multiple violations of animal abuse law.
