3-Year-Old Lost In Missouri Cornfield, Dog Stays By Her Side

Remy Elliot, 3, is safe at home after being lost in a cornfield with her Yorkshire Terrier, Fat Heath, for 12 hours.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday evening in Butler Co., Mo., Remy went missing. Her mother, Timber Merritt, quickly gathered a search party of friends, family and local law enforcement, according to KFVS 12.

Helicopters were dispatched to the corn field behind the house. Quinlin Merritt, Timber’s brother, drove from Kentucky to help with the search and found Remy and Fat Heath fast asleep on broken cornstalks a half mile away from the house.

“She said she wasn’t scared because Fat Heath was there,” Ms. Merritt told KFVS. “If he wasn’t, I think she would’ve been terrified.”

Remy was checked into the Black River Medical Center in Poplar Bluff and released with cream to treat multiple mosquito bites.
