Who Has the Best Beard in the Pork Industry in 2021?

Do you know what the record is for longest beard in the world? Although you may not be able to top that record, now’s the time to nominate your beard or mustache (or a friend’s) for PORK’s Best Beard & Mustache Contest.

When Hans Langseth died in 1927 in Kensett, Iowa, he asked his children to have his beard cut off and stored for posterity. His son obliged and the beard was buried away in an attic for decades before Langseth’s son Russell donated it to the Smithsonian in 1967.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, his beard is the longest beard in the world at an amazing 17 feet, 6 inches long.

Now we don’t expect your beard to top that, but if you think you have what it takes to be named one of the best beards in the pork industry (or you’re just a good sport), send in your photo nominations before Dec. 3 to jshike@farmjournal.com.
