Who Doesn't Love a Great Chop? Penn State's Chop Robinson Joins Pork Campaign
The Iowa Pork Producers Association isn't the only pork organization to take advantage of the College Football NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) campaign to promote pork. The Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council (PPPC) is working with Chop Robinson, a stand-out defensive end for the Penn State Nittany Lions to reach the more than 12 million consumers in the state.
Chop, short for Pork Chop, was born weighing over 14 pounds. He says, “My parents started calling me Pork Chop early on and it stuck! Since then, I grew taller and thinned out, but Chop stuck.”
Chop is a second-team All-American and his sights set on the NFL.
“Our partnership with Chop allows for a fun, engaging way to keep pork front of mind. A delicious pork chop is flavor-packed and full of protein. Athletes like Chop can enjoy it, but so can the average family," says Courtney Gray, PPPC executive director.
Through a series of videos and photography to promote pork chops across digital and print media, PPPC is excited to work jointly with Chop to get the message out to an even wider audience.
"Pork is so versatile, it can be used as an ingredient or the star of a dish. We want people to choose pork for their tailgates, but also all season long," Gray adds.
PPPC will also have a presence at the 2023 BBQ Rib Cookoff, happening during PSU Fan Fest on Oct. 14, ahead of the Penn State Football game against the University of Massachusetts.
