Hof Haus, a family meat products company, is undergoing a major expansion in Chicago.
Gov. Pat Quinn and officials from John Hofmeister and Son Inc. announced the $9.6 million expansion Monday in Chicago. The project will include building a new slicing and packaging operation and will be supported by a $2 million loan from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. It is expected to create 25 jobs.
Hof Haus was founded in Chicago more than 60 years ago and manufactures ham, pork and smoked turkey products.
Quinn will give his official budget address in March 26. The speech serves as the traditional beginning of annual budget negotiations between lawmakers and the governor.
