Authorities are investigating the cause of a small fire that broke out at Osceola Foods in Osceola, Iowa, on April 19. Osceola Foods is owned by Hormel Foods Corporation.
No injuries were reported as firefighters from Osceola and nearby towns were able to quickly extinguish the flames, reports KCCI Des Moines.
They say the fire was contained to the smoke house area of the 360,000-square-foot plant.
Workers could be seen standing along a fence in blankets as crews worked the scene, the article said.
Osceola Food, LLC, has been a part of the town’s history since 1972 when it was originally built for the Jimmy Dean Meat Company, according to its website. Hormel Foods began production at the facility in 1996, having purchased it the year before.
More than 900 people are employed at the facility, which runs a 24/7 continuous operation. It is the largest employer in Osceola and in Clarke County.
