Hail damage hit Platte County Nebraska hard with corn yielding 83.6 bushels per acre and soybeans only producing 270 pods in a 3x3 foot plot.
We just went thru a 10-mile stretch of terrible hail damage in northern Platte Co., Nebraska. #Corn measured 83.6 bu/acre. #Soybeans had lost canopy entirely and notched 270 pods in a 3x3' plot. Very unfortunate for these producers. #pftour18 pic.twitter.com/AiGO3Hhd3D — Karen Braun (@kannbwx) August 20, 2018

“Fat little beans” were produced in several counties in Nebraska. This seems to be the common them despite some areas affected by hail.
Our Nebraska route (Hall, Adams, Clay, Fillmore, Saline, Gage, Otoe Counties) averaged 1,424 #soybean pods in a 3x3' plot, and 9/13 were dryland. Max was 2,659 and min 947. According to Tyne Morgan, host of U.S. Farm Report, the beans were tall in McLean County, Illinois, and produced an average of 90 pods per plant
Bountiful beans in McLean County, Illinois. @WentworthFarms says he’s consistently seeing plants with 90 pods per plant. Tall beans, but loaded this year! #Pftour18 pic.twitter.com/vzBmYEYaOY — Tyne Morgan (@Tyne_Ag) August 21, 2018
