According to a recent release, Pharmgate Animal Health in Wilmington, N.C., has grown significantly as a trusted animal health provider with a comprehensive product portfolio that puts livestock health first. In response to that growth, the sales team has been restructured to include:

Adam Gutierrez, a key contributor to Pharmgate sales strategies for nine years, who has been promoted to sales director of integrator accounts. Feedworks USA, Ltd., Cincinnati, Ohio, announced the hiring of Tommy Shipp, Ph.D., as its technical services manager for the southeastern U.S., consulting with customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Dr. Shipp brings a wealth of nutrition and feed additive expertise to the rapidly growing Feedworks USA monogastric business portfolio.

In this new role, Dr. Shipp will provide technical sales and support to swine and poultry integrators, plus play a key role in the commercialization of existing products in the company’s portfolio, as well as future nutrition innovations.

Also, for the past eight years, Dr. Shipp has been in partnership with his brother in their cow-calf operation in Alabama.

Dr. Shipp is eager to join the team and help companies apply the Feedworks USA product portfolio in the most effective ways.

“A key aspect of what I do is help my customers beyond what a product is or what it does, so that they get the most benefit from it,” Dr. Shipp says. “Nutrition is a science and an art. Therefore, it’s vital to ask the right questions to fully understand the customer needs to offer solutions that position them for success.”

dsm-firmenich Has Released Results of the World Mycotoxin Survey from Q1 2024

Each year dsm-firmenich analyzes a large number of feed samples from around the world to understand and monitor contamination levels of the different mycotoxins in a variety of feed ingredients. From January to March 2024, 5,383 samples were collected and analyzed from 64 countries around the world. The results concluded that Fusarium mycotoxins, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisins, are most frequently found with the highest regions of mycotoxins found in North and Central America, South Asia, Southeast Asia and China, and Taiwan.

The survey also includes further details on the prevalence levels for each mycotoxin within regions, global and local risk for each, risk levels posed for each species, and an overview of mycotoxin detection methods.

“The presence of mycotoxins remain a threat to animal health, with adverse effects impacting reproduction, digestive disorders and performance,” says Ursula Hofstetter, head of mycotoxin risk management at dsm-firmenich. “These latest findings underscore the ongoing global challenge mycotoxins pose to animal welfare and farm productivity, reinforcing the critical need for effective mycotoxin management strategies.”

Mycotoxins are naturally produced by the fungi that can contaminate raw feed materials in the field and during storage. When ingested by animals, mycotoxins have a wide range of negative effects such as impaired reproduction, digestive disorders, carcinogenicity, and reduced performance.
