Whole herd productivity through a prepared immune system.
By Dr. Ellen Davis, Swine Technical Services Manager

Profitability and productivity—the two go hand in hand. When your pigs are healthy and productive, you’re improving your bottom line. But the opposite is also true. Longer wean-to-estrus (WEI) intervals, lower pregnancy rates, piglet weight variations, the impact of mycotoxins and the threat of diarrhea are all costly setbacks. One way to avoid non-productive days (NPDs) and the resulting economic hit is to prepare your pigs’ immune systems.

Productivity starts with the immune system.
A fully prepared immune system helps your sows build resilience ahead of challenges, rather than forcing you to deal with any of their costly impacts. With a fully prepared immune system, you can reduce WEI and improve sow breeding rates, among other advantages.

Another benefit of building a sow’s overall immune function: its impact on piglets during the nursery phase. When you can stay ahead of productivity-robbing challenges, you can significantly reduce antimicrobial use during this phase.

Prep the immune system like a pro.
Preparing the immune system might sound like a challenge but Refined Functional Carbohydrates™ (RFCs™) available in CELMANAX™ from Arm & Hammer Animal and Food Production help animals cope with challenges before they become bottom-line threats.

By delivering highly bioavailable RFCs, CELMANAX is proven to be an ideal solution for promoting sow productivity, supporting the immune system and helping pigs consistently meet target weight goals.

Research-supported solutions.
Research shows that CELMANAX provides tangible whole herd health and productivity benefits:

  1. Sow productivity. In a study of 240 sows, CELMANAX fed 35 days post-breeding through the end of lactation resulted in no significant sow body weight loss at the end of weaning, reduced the wean-to-estrus interval by up to 1.5 days and improved the percentage of sows bred in the first seven days to 97–100%.
  2. Piglet weight gain. Sows fed CELMANAX had piglets with increased weight at weaning. And it has been shown to increase average piglet 10-day, weaning and end of nursery phase body weight when compared to zinc oxide.

  1. Immune function. Studies have also shown that CELMANAX may help improve immune function and provide benefit for weaned pigs during an immune challenge.

Whole herd productivity starts with preparing the immune system. And preparing the immune system starts with CELMANAX from ARM & HAMMER™. Contact us to learn more about the science behind RFCs and how they can help improve your bottom line.
