Iowa Shares #Porktober21 Celebration Plan
There is no better time than October to celebrate that Iowa is the country’s top pork-producing state. The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) will celebrate October Pork Month, or #Porktober21, with great appreciation of not only delicious and nutritious pork, but all the people that are part of this important food system in our state, according to an IPPA release. K-State Plans ‘Family & Friends’ Reunion Planned for Oct. 15
The Kansas State University Department of Animal Sciences and Industry has announced plans for its seventh annual Family & Friends Reunion at the open-air venue, the Stanley Stout Center, on Friday, Oct. 15. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the event will feature premium quality meats and dairy products, including pork, beef and chicken; live entertainment by the band, Too Many Degrees, featuring K-State professor David Grieger; and a Junior Wildcat Barnyard area designed for the youngest members of the ASI family. International Conference on Pig Survivability Registration is Open
The International Conference on Pig Survivability will be held in-person October 27 and 28 in Omaha, Neb., at the Hilton Omaha. The conference’s objective is to facilitate the discussion and dissemination of the most current information relative to sow, litter, weaned pig and grow-finish mortality. The event will host panel discussions, keynote speakers, and concurrent sessions. With 19 different speakers a variety of “hot topics” throughout the industry will be covered.

Mark Your Calendar for K-State Swine Day
Make plans now to attend the 2021 K-State Swine Day to be hosted at the KSU Alumni Center in Manhattan, Kan., on Nov. 18. The trade show, with more than 30 exhibitors, will begin at 8 a.m. Learn about the latest in K-State applied swine nutrition research. Listen to Rodger Main, director of the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, discuss “Swine Health Improvement Plan.” Jon De Jong, Pipestone Nutrition president will present, “Adapting to a Changing Swine Industry Landscape.” The fee to register is $25 per person if paid by Nov. 10 and $50 after that date or at the door. Students may attend free of charge if they register by Nov.10. Registration is available at KSUSwine.org.
