From global market dynamics to wild boar populations, the 11th-annual Iowa Swine Day, scheduled for June 30, is packed with a powerful line-up of speakers representing the pork and animal agriculture industries.

The event will take place at the Scheman Building, Iowa State Center, in Ames, Iowa, featuring highly regarded speakers discussing relevant issues facing U.S. pork producers.

The morning session will feature Aaron Thomas, high school principal and coach, on overcoming adversity. In addition, Ryan Brook, associate professor at the University of Saskatchewan, will present on wild boar populations and Karl Skold, head of agricultural economics for JBS USA, will present on global market dynamics and its impact on U.S. pork production. Peter Zeihan, geopolitical strategist with Zeihan on Geopolitics, will discuss geopolitical and other global influences affecting U.S. agriculture.

The afternoon will be structured into four tracks, including foreign animal diseases in Iowa, the evolving labor force, improving pig livability and Iowa State University research. Topics range from engaging frontline employees with your IT strategy to individual sow care to improve on-farm mortality to an update on the APP serotype 15 outbreak in central Iowa.

The day will conclude with a pork barbecue dinner hosted by AB Vista, TechMix and Lynch Livestock.

Registration is $65 and includes lunch and refreshments. Early registration ends midnight, June 23. No walk-in registrations will be accepted. Registration is free for students before the early registration deadline. The full program, directions and online registration are available on the Iowa Swine Day conference website.
