Annie Lerner, Schwartz Farms’ director of nutrition and research, will present “Evaluating Technology: From Concept to On-Farm Implementation,” at Kansas State University’s Swine Day on Thursday, Nov.19 at the KSU Alumni Center in Manhattan.
The event, hosted by the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry and the Applied Swine Nutrition Team, will highlight new research from the university in addition to Lerner’s presentation.
“With the rapid pace of technological advancement and the growing number of solutions available to our industry, producers are increasingly challenged to determine which technologies can deliver meaningful value,” says Josh Flohr, Extension specialist and assistant professor in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry. “We are excited to hear from Dr. Lerner on how Schwartz Farms has navigated this evolving landscape and approached adoption of new technologies in their operations.”
The event will begin at 8 a.m. with a technology trade show, giving swine producers a chance to connect with industry professionals. The program will kick off at 9:15 a.m. with K-State swine faculty presenting research updates in nutrition, management, feed processing and feed safety.
“Each year the K-State Swine Day provides the latest information on applied swine nutrition and management research that can be implemented in the industry,” says Joel DeRouchey, a swine Extension specialist and professor in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry.
The event will wrap up with a reception and refreshments. The cost to attend Swine Day is $30 if paid by Nov. 10 or $50 at the door. There is no charge for students who pre-register. Click here for more information and online registration.
