If there was one common theme heard throughout World Pork Expo this year, it was the value of people. Whether attendees described the event as “oink-tastic,” “snout-standing,” “hog-tastic,” “pigtastic,” or even “ham-azing,” the enthusiasm was clear: World Pork Expo is about much more than exhibits and meetings—it’s about building relationships, learning from one another, and celebrating the pork industry together.

For many members of The Maschhoffs team, the highlight of the event was the opportunity to connect with people from across the industry. Employees, interns, vendors and industry partners all gathered in one place, creating an environment where conversations and connections happen naturally.

Several shared that meeting new people was their favorite part of the event. Many enjoyed engaging with professionals across the swine industry and learning about the different companies that support pork production. Others appreciated reconnecting with familiar contacts while also expanding their professional networks. Some also discovered just how interconnected the agriculture industry can be through unexpected connections and shared relationships.

Those experiences highlight an important reality for young professionals entering agriculture: success is built on relationships. Events like World Pork Expo provide opportunities to meet mentors, learn from industry leaders, and gain exposure to career paths that may not be visible in a classroom setting. For interns and students, a single conversation can lead to a future opportunity, a new perspective, or a lasting professional connection. Just as importantly, World Pork Expo demonstrates the value the industry places on embracing youth, encouraging their involvement, and advocating for the future of agriculture.

Beyond networking, attendees also valued the chance to learn about the industry’s future. World Pork Expo gives team members valuable time together while also helping them stay informed on policy, production, and other key topics impacting pork producers. With exhibitors, educational opportunities, and industry discussions happening throughout the event, attendees left with a broader understanding of what is shaping the future of agriculture.

Of course, no World Pork Expo recap would be complete without mentioning the food. From barbecue and pork samples to cornbread and countless hospitality events, food was a recurring favorite among attendees. But even those conversations often led back to what makes the event special—sharing meals and experiences with colleagues, friends, customers and industry partners.

Perhaps the most meaningful takeaway from World Pork Expo is the reminder that agriculture remains a relationship-driven industry. Whether reconnecting with longtime friends, meeting a future business partner, or introducing a student to the opportunities available in pork production, every interaction helps strengthen the agricultural community.
