From AP’s launch of the FeedSense optical bin monitor and NOVUS’s new Relyzant Bis-Chelated Trace Mineral to Hendrix Genetics taking full ownership of its global swine business unit, key industry players are rolling out new solutions in swine management, nutrition and genetics.
New AP FeedSense Continuously Monitors Swine Barn Feed Inventory
Low feed levels in a swine barn can compromise pig health and productivity. To help ensure proper nutrition, AP’s new FeedSense system automatically monitors feed bin levels with high accuracy and minimal maintenance, the company says in a release. FeedSense uses modern optical sensors for remote feed inventory monitoring. The system sends automated alerts when feed levels are low or feed is added to the bin. Historical trends are also provided, storing consumption patterns to support forecasting, ordering and feed conversion analysis.
“Our new FeedSense technology supports a range of corrugated bulk feed tanks and is built for harsh agricultural environments, including being dustproof, waterproof and UV-resistant,” says Alvarim Costa, AP senior product owner.
Costa said other features include:
- Easy retrofit installation, able to mount to existing feed bins with minimal tools and no structural modifications.
- Operates independently of barn power using an integrated solar panel and a rechargeable battery for off-grid reliability.
- Every FeedSense reading includes an image captured from inside the bin for visibility of bin conditions without having to climb the side of the feed bin to look inside.
FeedSense transmits data through the AP Connect app. For more information, producers can contact their local AP dealer or visit automatedproduction.com.
NOVUS Introduces New Bis-Chelated Trace Mineral
Relyzant Bis-Chelated Trace Mineral is the next-generation bis-chelate from NOVUS, the company says in a release. Available in zinc, copper and manganese, the mineral is bound by two lactic acid ligands, forming a stable, neutral molecule that maintains integrity across changes in pH in the gut and interactions with other parts of the diet, ultimately resulting in more mineral being accessible to the animal.
Known for its Mintrex Bis-Chelated Trace Minerals, NOVUS officials say this latest innovation makes bis-chelated technology more widely available.
“We developed Relyzant in response to our customers’ needs,” says Abishek Shingote, NOVUS vice president of corporate strategy and innovation. “With more than 500 research trials demonstrating its efficacy, Mintrex Bis-Chelated Trace Minerals has defined the standard for trace mineral performance. It was designed over 20 years ago for diets that benefit from methionine source HMTBa, a key ingredient. We recognize that many customers today prioritize mineral concentration and flexibility. Relyzant provides the same authentic bis-chelate protection and superior absorption without methionine.”
The company says nutritionists will appreciate this new concentrated source of organic trace mineral that offers formulation flexibility. The product is now available in Mexico and will be available later this year in other markets. For more information, visit novusint.com/mineral.
Full Ownership Marks Next Step for Hendrix Genetics Swine
Hendrix Genetics announces has acquired full ownership of Hendrix Genetics Swine, marking the next step in the integration and development of its global swine genetics activities. Hendrix Genetics Swine was established following the merger of Hypor and Danish Genetics, bringing together the strengths of both organizations, the company explains in a release. The company was established through a joint venture between Hendrix Genetics and its Danish partners, combining breeding, multiplication and distribution activities within a single swine organization.
The transition to full ownership by Hendrix Genetics represents the logical next step in the continued integration and development of the swine business and reflects the progress made since the formation of the partnership nearly two years ago, the company says.
“Since bringing together the expertise of Hypor and Danish Genetics, we have made significant progress in building a unified swine genetics business,” says Richard Maatman, CEO of Hendrix Genetics, in a release. “Moving to a fully integrated ownership structure is a natural next step in the integration process. It enables us to operate with greater clarity, speed, and alignment while continuing to create value for customers around the world.”
Dennis Jørgensen assumed the role of managing director of the swine activities of Hendrix Genetics, effective Sept. 1. He will lead the integrated swine organization and continue to build on the complementary strengths of Hypor and Danish Genetics while supporting the further development of the business. As part of this next step in the integration journey, Hendrix Genetics Swine will move forward as the Swine Business Unit of Hendrix Genetics, reinforcing its position as a fully integrated part of the company’s global multi-species organization while maintaining a dedicated focus on serving swine producers worldwide.
