Don’t miss the Gordon Lawson Ileitis Symposium on Sept. 16 at the InterContinental St. Paul Riverfront in St. Paul, Minn.
The conference will kick off at 9 a.m. with a general overview of Lawsonia, followed by a session on pathogenesis, immunity and diagnostics, and control and eradication.
Lawsonia is a cunning enemy because of how it attacks the pig, Fernando Leite, DVM, technical manager for enteric diseases with Boehringer Ingelheim, said in an earlier article.
“Lawsonia only replicates inside of cells and preferentially those that line the intestine. When we think about what the intestine does, those cells are there to absorb nutrients,” he says. “It can have a large impact on production performance and overall health.”
Speakers include Leite, Connie Gebhart of the University of Minnesota; Nicholas Gabler of Iowa State University; Alison Collins of the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute in New South Wales, Australia; Steve McOrist, a consultant from Hong Kong; Dana Beckler of Gut Bugs Inc.; Fabio Vannucci of the University of Minnesota; Rutger Jansen of Boehringer Ingelheim; Roberto Guedes of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil; Milena Saqui Salces of the University of Minnesota and more. The event will conclude with a farewell reception and poster viewing from 6-8 p.m.
The symposium is organized by Boehringer Ingelheim. For more information and to register, click here.
