The National Pork Board (NPB) and Showpig announced a strategic partnership to enhance and support the show pig industry on Wednesday at the Legends and Dreamers Showpig Summit held in Nashville, Tenn. Through practical resources, educational programs, and advocacy support to producers and exhibitors, the collaboration is a symbol of their united commitment to the growth and prosperity of the show pig sector.

“The National Pork Board is thrilled to join forces with Showpig in this strategic partnership,” Brett Kaysen, senior vice president of producer and state engagement at the National Pork Board, said in a release. “Together, we will create resources and opportunities that support everyone that makes up the pork industry.”

By pooling assets and expertise, Showpig and the National Pork Board aim to create needed education for the pork industry that is specifically adapted to the show pig sector.

“This partnership marks a significant milestone for both Showpig and the National Pork Board,” Megan Wendt, vice president and COO at Showpig, said in a release. “By combining our strengths, we can make a lasting impact on the show pig industry, ensuring its continued growth and success.”

According to a release, efforts will focus on two key areas of the show pig industry: producers and exhibitors.

  • Producers will see programs and information developed that is beneficial to their operation, increasing their network of resources and enhancing their understanding of both the opportunities and threats the pork industry faces.
  • Exhibitors will be able to expand their network beyond the show ring through programs that will equip future industry leaders with the knowledge and connections required to create informed and committed advocates for the greater pork industry.

The partnership’s tactics will take effect starting in January 2024.
