JBS will inaugurate a massive breaded chicken and sausage plant in Brazil’s southern state of Parana, company executives said on Thursday, as they detailed plans to boost revenue from value-added meat products.
The plant, which required investments of 1 billion reais ($200.23 million), will initially cater to the domestic market but could later export part of its production, JBS said.
“We believe the breaded products market has the potential to double in size in Brazil,” said Joao Campos, CEO of JBS’s processed foods division, Seara.
As an example, he said Brazil’s demand for breaded products is about half that of England’s.
Rolandia’s construction is part of an 8 billion-real investment program for Brazil announced by the company in 2019.
JBS, the country’s largest employer, will generate 4,500 direct jobs at the new plant, global CEO Gilberto Tomazoni said.
