Seaboard Foods announced the purchase of three farms in Texas and Oklahoma on Sept. 11. These acquisitions, which include the strategic purchase of barns with a total of 57,000 market hog spaces, will directly supply Seaboard Foods’ pork processing plant in Guymon, Okla., the company said in a release.
According to Seaboard, the newly acquired farms in Perryton, Texas; Optima, Okla.; and Balko, Okla., align with the company’s connected food system’s goal of maintaining control and quality from its farms to tables across the globe. They expect the move to bolster Seaboard Foods market hog supply to the Guymon facility, ensuring a steady flow of high-quality pork products.
“We are excited about these acquisitions as they strengthen our commitment to delivering premium pork products and embodying The Prairie Fresh Way,” Chad Groves, president and CEO of Seaboard Foods, said in a release. “Adding these farms into our operations allows us to better manage our supply chain and uphold the high standards our domestic and international customers expect from Seaboard Foods.”
The Prairie Fresh Way
Groves says The Prairie Fresh Way is a testament to Seaboard Foods’ commitment to doing pork the right way. It focuses on the following principles:
Control: Managing every step of the production process, from raising the animals to processing the meat to ensure consistent product quality and food safety.
Animal Care: Ensuring the health and proper treatment of animals through rigorous care standards.
Sustainability: Using sustainable practices, including environmental conservation and responsible resource use.
Quality Assurance: Meeting high standards for meat quality and product specifications.
Community Engagement: Supporting local communities, fueling education and bringing people together through food in communities where we operate.
