The W. Cornbelt Lean Carcass price was weaker last week, averaging $98.07/cwt. against $100.54/cwt. the prior week while farrow-to-finish break-evens remained steady at close to $68/cwt.
Sterling’s estimated producer margins averaged $63.90/head for the week compared to $69.30/head the prior week.
At the same time, Sterling’s estimated packer margins averaged $3.27/head last week. Market hog numbers at 2,512,575 last week left Sterling’s estimate for plant utilization at 97%.
