Beyond the Vaccine: Why It’s Time to Think About Mode of Delivery

The HSW Jet-PACCone brings high-speed, needle-free technology to pork producers with integrated digital traceability.

Modern livestock vaccination needs are continuously evolving. High-throughput workflows, operator safety, animal welfare and traceability are becoming increasingly important. The HSW Jet-PACCone introduces a needle-free, electronic injection system designed to support efficient, ergonomic and animal-friendly vaccination processes.

“We worry about the efficacy of the product, but we never talk about the motive,” says Jordan Clay, animal health manager at Air-Tite Products, Inc. “Farmers hate it when they’re ready to do something and then something breaks. Reliability and customer service matter. It comes down to the importance of the device, not just the product.”

Needle-Free Technology

The Jet-PACCone uses advanced high-pressure fluid jet technology to deliver precise and consistent intramuscular injections without needles. This eliminates risks associated with needle breakage, needle fragments and needle-stick injuries.

Clay says the wearable, two-part design combines a lightweight handpiece with a mobile drive unit, enabling hands-free operation and improved workflow efficiency during long treatment sessions. The complete injection cycle is less than one second, making the system ideally suited for high-throughput vaccination scenarios and routine batch treatments.

“The Jet-PACCone also integrates a dual-safety mechanism together with LED and vibration feedback directly on the handpiece, ensuring reliable and intuitive operation,” the company explains.

Digital Traceability and Compliance

Bluetooth connectivity and seamless integration with the HSW Connect App enable documentation, diagnostics and traceability of vaccination processes.

Through the HSW Connect App, the system allows managers to track the success rate of every injection, ensuring that protocols are followed and providing a “usable report” for vaccination sessions.

“We can see if [an operator] did 100 vaccinations and 90% of them were successful—as in there wasn’t a pullback or air in the chamber,” Clay says. “We can then transfer all that data into a usable report and that helps with compliance training.”

A Legacy of Reliability

Air-Tite is rebranding to reflect its evolution from a 1926 poultry farm startup to a modern leader in human and animal health delivery systems, emphasizing a “customer-first” culture.

“It’s 100 years old this year,” Clay says. “As a company, I want pork producers to know about the lengths we go to for our customers. We are not afraid to look at products that will make producers’ lives easier if it makes sense. We are here to learn, and we want to continue to be educated as well.”
