More Bangers (Sausages) for Your Buck
Corey Winder of Elite Meats in Riccarton, New Zealand, is a celebrity of sorts. He and other members of the Pure South Sharp Blacks take their butchery talents on the road to challenge butchers in other countries with their cutting skills. And hopefully break a world record or two in the process.
Winder recently tried to break the Guinness world record for the number of sausages made in 60 seconds, and he’s waiting for results. He used a Multivac machine, which allowed him to make an astounding 69 sausages, according to New Zealand’s Food and Wine. It was a machine that Winder was unfamiliar with and he didn’t have time to practice on it.

"There were sausages there that didn't have enough meat in them," he told reporters. “I couldn't get the fill right and I didn't fill enough sausages. I couldn't get the hang of it." Guinness guidelines also state that the bangers must be a minimum of 10.1 cm in length.
Winder made 75 sausages in a minute just the week before the world record attempt, when reporters from Stuff Food and Wine News visited him at his Riccarton shop, Elite Meats, and he told those folks he’d been able to pass the world record there before.
It will take three months to be confirmed by the Guinness World Record Governing Body. Winder says if he doesn’t break the record this time, he’ll try again next year.
