John’s World: The Baby Bust of 2017

According to an AgDay Twitter poll, as of April 19, 93 percent of farmers haven’t started planting. 

John Phipps is one of those farmers. He had the best intentions to shoot his John’s Worldcommentary from the cab of the tractor, but Mother Nature had other plans. 

With the extra time on his hands, this week Phipps looks into demography, or the science of counting people. According to information from demographer Lyman Stone, 2017 is shaping up to be a baby bust of “remarkable proportions.”
