Thieves Drive Off with $100,000 of Pork Stolen from JBS Plant

(JBS)

More than $100,000 in pork products were stolen from the JBS plant in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Thursday.

Police responded to the call at 7 a.m. on Sept. 1 regarding a stolen semi at the meat packing plant. Lt. Jason Bell, a spokesperson for the Ottumwa Police Department, said police believe the semi was used to steal three semi-trailers filled with over $100,000 in pork product ready to be distributed.

According to the Des Moines Register, authorities recovered two of the stolen trailers at the Blackhawk River Access in Ottumwa. The last trailer was discovered in Wapello County. All of the pork product had been removed, Bell said in a release.

Anyone who may have knowledge of suspicious activity regarding semi-trailers early Thursday morning are encouraged to contact the Ottumwa Police Department at 641-683-0661.
