What could be more perfect than a marriage proposal surrounded by pigs? Will Hussey of Bryan, Texas, made his “pig-posal” to Kate Jimerson of George West, Texas, at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on Sunday.
After years participating as contestants at the stock show, Jimerson and Hussey finally crossed paths four years ago at the swine barn as interns.
Jimerson thought they were going to the show this year to watch her younger sister (a senior in high school) compete in her last barrow show, but Hussey surprised her.
“I chose the San Antonio Stock Show to propose because it was the place that we first met. I decided to ask her in the exact spot that I first laid eyes on her,” Hussey said.
Both Jimerson and Hussey come from stock show families that are involved in agriculture.
Stock shows and the agriculture industry have done so much for me in my life, and now showing pigs has given me another memory I’ll never forget,” Jimerson said. “The day was topped off with my sister getting second place in the heavyweight Hampshire class.”
Jimerson is a 2017 graduate of Texas A&M University and is in her second year of veterinary school. Hussey is a 2018 graduate of Texas A&M University where he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in ag economics.
"The Stock Show already holds a special place for both of us, so why not make it something we can tell our kids about someday," Hussey said.
