Police in Thomasville, N.C., are taking a little bit of ribbing over their photos of a runaway pig, taken into police custody this week.

The arrest happened Thursday morning, around 9:15 a.m., after reports of the pig wandering around a neighborhood in the 100 block of Rodelia Street.

Commenters said the pig looked remorseful for it's actions, while one suggested charging him with "hamicide."

The pot-belly pig is likely a pet, the department said.

Local reports said the pig was seen during the morning rush hour traffic.

The potbelly pig is now at the Davidson County animal shelter waiting to be claimed by its owner. Thomasville is a town of 27,000 people, located about 80 miles northeast of Charlotte.
