Semi Hauling Pigs Overturns on I-64 East in Louisville

Semi trucks are a vital tool on many grain operations ( MGN )

A semitruck carrying a load of nearly 100 pigs overturned on Interstate 64 East near downtown Louisville on Friday.

The truck overturned around 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 7 between the Story Avenue and Grinstead Drive exits. The accident closed down one lane of traffic, according to the Courier Journal.

Kentucky Transportation said the semi got hung up on a cable barrier on I-64E just before the Cochran Hill Tunnel.

The driver wasn’t hurt, but officials said some of the pigs were injured.

In July, a similar accident took place when a truck carrying finishing pigs overturned on Interstate 71 in downtown Louisville. More than 100 of the pigs in the July accident died or had to be euthanized due to injuries.
