Missouri Pork Association Shows Off Agriculture’s Best at State Fair

The Missouri Pork Association (MPA) is proud to showcase the Missouri pork industry at the Missouri State Fair from August 8 to 18 in Sedalia.

MPA will kick off the week hosting the Youth Swine Skillathon in the Swine Pavilion at 8:30 a.m. and will host the 4-H/FFA Swine Judging Contest on Friday, August 9 at 5 p.m. In addition, MPA sponsors the 4-H Specialty Pork Demonstrations on Thursday, August 8, beginning at 9 a.m. and actively supports youth on Agriculture Day on Saturday, August 17.

For fairgoers interested in new recipes featuring pork, MPA Interns Kaylee Calvin and Clint Perry will present Cooking with Pork in the Home Economics Building. They will share great recipes with the public on August 8 at 1:30 p.m., August 9 at 1:30 p.m., August 13 at 1:30 p.m., and August 14 at 2:30 p.m.

After all that activity, MPA encourages people to stop by the Pork Place to enjoy a great meal in air-conditioned comfort. This year’s menu features their 40th Anniversary Special - the Top Chop Dinner for $11 - and just $6 on Throwback Thursday, August 15. Other menu highlights include sliced pork loin, smoked barbeque ribs, pork burger, pulled pork sandwich or classic BLT. Guests can stock up on new pork recipes or enter for a chance to win one of 11 prize packages by completing a comment card.
