Midwest-Inspired Pizza is a Pork Lover’s Dream

What’s more Midwest than pulled pork, corn and barbecue sauce? Casey’s General Store is launching a pork lover’s dream – a pizza complete with pulled pork, bacon, fire-roasted corn and Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Sauce.

You can find the pizza on sale starting Sunday, the Des Moines Register reports.

The yet-to-be-named pizza was developed after Casey’s culinary staff studied food trends and what’s popular with consumers, said Art Sebastian, Casey’s vice president of digital experience.

“We take our pizza seriously here,” Sebastian said. “It really is Midwest inspired. The ingredients are sourced in the Midwest, which is important to us.”

Casey’s will start a naming contest for the new pizza starting Sunday through Sept. 14. The person who submits the winning name will be announced Sept. 28 and get a yearlong supply of Casey’s pizza.

The new pizza will go on sale for $15.99.
