Merck Animal Health encourages recent doctoral graduates to apply for the 2019 High Quality Pork Ph.D. Award. One graduate will receive the opportunity to present their research at an upcoming Merck Animal Health High Quality Pork meeting in Asia, Europe or North America.
“These young veterinary professionals are the future of swine health, production and welfare,” says Rika Jolie, DVM, Ph.D., MBA, Global Technical Director, Swine, MSD Animal Health. “We are proud to help prepare them for the vital roles they will play within the swine industry and support ongoing research and innovation.”
Eligible candidates must have completed doctoral research for an applied project in either veterinary or animal science with an emphasis on swine and defended their doctoral degree in the past 12 months. Candidates will need to be available to travel and present their review in Myanmar (March 4-7, 2019), Europe (Q3 2019) or North America (Q3 2019). Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.
Topics of interest include antibiotic reduction, welfare, precision medicine, infectious diseases – such as porcine respiratory syndrome virus, porcine circovirus, Lawsonia and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae – and reproductive management.
To apply, candidates need to submit a 500-word summary of their research project, a concise letter describing why they deserve the award and a brief curriculum vitae. Applications must be submitted to email@example.com by Dec. 31, 2018. The award recipient will be notified by Feb. 15, 2019.
