Four people were injured in a work-related accident at the Tyson Foods plant in Perry, Iowa on Monday this week. According to a report by KCCI television in Des Moines, the workers suffered burns from steam.
Dallas County Chief Deputy Adam Infonte said in an interview that two employees are in critical condition with burns to their heads, faces and upper torsos. They were flown by helicopter to the University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center in Iowa City. Two other employees were treated at Tyson’s health services department in the plant. The accident occurred around noon, and the names of those injured have not yet been released, said KCCI.
The injuries were not caused by a fire, and the Perry plant, which employs about 1,200 pepole, has had a good safety record up to this point. Tyson said it will do a full investigation into the accident.
