Fire Destroys Gestation Barn in Nebraska

A catastrophic fire destroyed a gestation barn owned by The Maschhoffs on Monday at an operation southeast of Cedar Rapids, Neb.

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. to battle a blaze that the Albion News reported started in the attic of the barn. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

No one was injured in the fire. Veterinarians were on site Monday restoring animal care. The total loss of animals is yet to be determined.

Cedar Rapids Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, with mutual aid from Primrose, Albion, Belgrade and Petersburg.
