Smithfield Foods and Paula Deen teamed up for a recipe contest featuring Smithfield products. The grand prize went to Bob Gadsby, Great Falls, Mont., for his Smokin' Creole Corn Dogs with Spicy Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce. As a result, he took home $30,000 cash prize.
The 2008 Cookin' with Smithfield and Paula Deen Recipe Contest picked 10 finalists, chosen from 4,000 initial entries. For the competition, the recipes had to include one of Smithfield's products-- bacon, smoked sausage, lunchmeat, smoked pork chops, ham or fresh pork.
Winning the People's Choice Award was Karen Culkin, Greeley, Colo., for her "It's Not Just for Dinner Anymore" Breakfast Mac-n-Cheese recipe. She too home $5,000.
