BinMaster wireless laser level sensor
The BinMaster SPL-200 battery-powered laser allows mounting and powering level sensors on silos without the expense of wiring them, according to a company release.
The unit measures solids in silos up to 98 feet tall, in low or no-dust environments. It is powered by a replaceable lithium battery that has a life of three-to-five years. A single point laser allows the use of level sensors on silos or in remote locations where inventory monitoring has not been feasible, the company says.
The SPL-200 can be programmed to take interval readings between once an hour and once per day. The laser uses an integrated wireless LoRa long range transceiver to send data to a gateway that connects via cellular or ethernet to the BinView web application or Binventory LAN-based software for data access from a PC, smartphone or tablet.
It is simple to install through a 1.5” NPT connection, and can be mounted using fixed mounting plates that are available in angles of 0°, 5°, 10°, or 30°, or an adjustable swivel mount that allows altering the angle from 0° to 45° to aim the laser.

EveryPig software helped farm avoid withdrawal period violation fines
EveryPig, a pig health and production management platform announced that its software helped one of its users identify and avoid a potential withdrawal period violation, saving the farm from financial penalties, according to a release from the company.
A production manager used EveryPig software to audit groups of pigs that were scheduled to go to market the next day. The app’s medication withdrawal tracking system notified the manager to an ongoing withdrawal period and he then stopped the shipment of pigs to the processing facility. A similar incident in the industry recently cost a producer $1.5 million in packer fines, the release says.
“The app really saved us from a major financial and reputational crisis,” the farm’s production manager said. “We really care about the quality of our product, and we never want to be in a situation where we accidentally violate any compliance standards. So, having that added level of security from EveryPig has proven to be extremely valuable to our business.”
