Bulgaria’s swine industry is experiencing widespread changes in an era of commercialization, but African swine fever (ASF) is causing changes of its own.

A Sept. 9 report from the Global Agricultural Information Network shows a shift from backyard to commercial production. Additionally, Bulgarian pork consumption rose 13% from 2014 to 2018, and domestic production grew faster than imports.
