Are you interested in the future of pork production, new technologies, or want to be a leader in the pork industry and are still in high school? Then the 2018 University of Missouri Pork Institute is your answer.

The Pork Institute will be held June 11-13 on the MU campus. The registration fee of $100 covers materials, meals, dormitory lodging (air-conditioned, Virginia Avenue dormitory) and planned field trips. As an attendee, you are responsible for your travel costs to and from Columbia.

Space is limited to 15 students—everyone is encouraged to apply. A selection committee of university faculty and leaders in the pork industry will screen the applicants. The 2018 application deadline has been extended to May 2. Results of the selection process will be announced May 4.

Some of the planned activities include: tours of the MU Swine Farm, vet college diagnostics lab and the Missouri Pork Association headquarters. There will also be a field trip to Central Missouri Meat and Sausage in Fulton, Missouri. Prior to leaving, participants will take a written exam. The top two highest-scoring individuals will each earn a $500 college scholarship.
