Agents Seize 154 Pounds of Bologna at Texas Border

( U.S. Customs and Border Protection )

U.S. border agents confiscated more than 150 pounds of bologna from a driver entering the U.S. from Mexico last week, according to the Associated Press.

The driver told U.S. Customs and Border Protection that he had rolls of frozen turkey ham in his pickup truck, however, on further inspection the agents determined it was actually 154 pounds of Mexican bologna, which is made of pork.

The driver was released but the bologna was seized and destroyed, AP reports. Customs and Border Patrol agents don’t allow bologna to be carried across the border because it could introduce foreign animal diseases, such as African swine fever, to the domestic pork industry.
