5 Things #PORKtober Taught Us
( Farm Journal's PORK )

During the month of October, the pork industry celebrated pork and the hardworking farmers who put pork on your plate. In case you missed our daily #PORKtober posts, here are the top five posts that caught your attention during the second half of the celebration. Go share these bits of inspiration and fun facts with all your friends.

1. You're never too young (or old) to follow your dreams.

2. Did you know that porcine heart values are commonly used in human patients who require replacement valves? There is also hope that one day pigs could provide a step in helping to treat or to cure diabetes because of the similarities between the human and porcine pancreas.

3. Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.

4. Did you know there were dinosaur pigs? Enteledonts were piglike creatures that existed around 16.3 million years ago. Sometimes they are called terminator pigs in popular culture because they would have weighed around 1,000 pounds, stood up to 7 ft. tall at the shoulder and had multiple sets of teeth.

5. May the pork be with you.
